- I draw my inspiration from nature, different cultures, music, images, words, & great artists. While I appreciate the whole - I am drawn to the detail in the things around me. Pattern, texture, form, tone, & the relationship between details all inspire me. I love the fluidity of the curved line & I use it in most of my works. I also love the control of detail that master calligraphers demonstrate in their art & I try to bring this discipline & precision in my works through the use of pen, ink & paper. The end result is a body of works that function as windows into the world I see - imperfect yet fluid; intricately detailed; simplistic yet contextual, individual yet relational, tranquil yet tumultuous, developed yet naive - which in turn reflects, me - who I am now & how I function, & how I relate to the world around me.
